MyPadMedia Review - Is it Worth the Membership Fee?

By Travis Sandy K Henry

Generally, I reluctantly review a pay-to-visit or membership websites, simply because my distaste for paying for something that I can get for free. But, since the iPad is so new, and the demand for the applications for the iPads will grow bigger and bigger with each passing day, I decided it would be worth it to do research on the subject that many new owners of iPad require. Read on.

Not too long ago, I received a brand new iPad with 3G for my birthday, an amazing new gadget from Apple. It took me quite awhile to figure out all the different features, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to master all the complexities of the new gadget quite easily. After using it for some time, I was a little bit disappointed with the limited media it had come with. Mind you, it definitely had some cool features and pre-installed apps, but I was left wanting more apps, multimedia and books on my new gadget. I wanted to find out how much data it can actually hold.

The first place I visited was Apple's own application store, aptly called Apps Store. They offer variety of media, books and games for the iPad, some are free and some are not. Most of the popular apps cost anywhere between $10~$14 on the average. Considering these facts, the cost of acquiring few apps, media or ebooks can really add up. So, began my journey to discover the cheaper source for all my download needs for the Apple's latest creation.

Like most people, I began my search on Google, and discovered not too many sites specialize in iPad downloads. I found few of them and among the ones that caught my attention, because of the attractive design of their website, was myPadMedia. It is a relatively new site that came along at the time of the iPad launch. The sales page looked clean and professional, simple to navigate. The main point on the website stressed the fact that you have unlimited access to the downloads of all the iPad apps, media and books absolutely free. Of course, I wanted to investigate further. Besides the quantity of content, I want to find out the quality of the contents that were available, and how other users felt about their service.

So, I dug deeper into my research to find out everything I can about the site and their services. What I discovered was there were quite a few satisfied myPadMedia users posting their comments and experiences on forums and social networks. However, there were few disgruntle users of the site. Consequently I wanted to explore further.

As known for being a skeptic, I didn't want to believe everything that was written on the forums where one can easily disguise themselves as users, when in truth, they are the agents of the company. The only way to investigate the true nature of their service and product was become a member and discover for myself how everything worked. Besides, they emphasized the '60-day money back guarantee' on the home page of their website in bold type. If I wasn't satisfied with the service or materials, I had enough room to escape with money back guarantee. I immediately signed up for their membership in hopes of finding a great source for all my iPad download needs and at the same time, I was a little comprehensive of what I might find inside.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that myPadMedia delivers what they promised on their sales page. The sheer volume of materials that are available for anyone to download is tremendous. From obscure ebooks to rare manga to the latest popular games, they were all available for download at no extra charge. Quantity was huge, but the quality of the materials that were available was quite enlightening. I did not expect to find some of the more rare manga collections, but they were available for immediate download.

The web interface was simple to navigate and easy to get hang of it right away. Unlike other download sites, you don't need to install extra software or learn a new application to utilize the downloads. With just few key strokes on your keyboard to search and simple click of your mouse enables you to download whatever you were searching for. Whatever the application or books or any other media you want, you'll surely find them in their database.

Like all good things, there are some draw backs. A lot of the materials that are in their database are readily available for free in Apple's own Apps Store. Likewise, you can acquire ebooks, comics, newspapers, magazines and any other multimedia materials for free simply by doing your own research on the web. What myPadMedia does is put all the materials in their search database, so you don't have to go all over the web to get what you want.

Are their service worth paying one-time fee of $49.95? Well, it depends on who you are really. If you are tight with your money and willing to spend few hours or even days looking for that title or media that you really want for free, then myPadMedia is probably not for you. On the other hand, if you are looking to simply all your iPad download needs at a minimal cost, then the initial fee would not be a big factor in your decision. But, having a iPad download source besides the Apple's own Apps Store gives consumers like you and me a choice to make our own decision.
